VW Alloy Wheels
We supply, source and sell a large selection of VW alloy wheels for Volkswagen's past and present vehicle range to customers throughout the UK, Europe and the rest of the world. This includes popular vehicles like the VW Golf, VW Passat and VW Polo. Additionally we supply van alloy wheels for vehicles like the Volkswagen Transporter T5.
At Alloy Wheels Direct our focus has always been on supplying original alloy wheels to customers rather than copies or replicas. The VW wheels that we sell are the same as those that would have been available to order with your vehicle from the factory as new, and have been designed and manufactured specifically for VW. This means that they have been designed and developed for your vehicle and have met the high quality standards that Volkswagen require from their manufacturers. It is essential that VW alloy wheels not only look good, but also are properly produced so that they perform well and are safe to use. Whilst copies or replicas can look similar they are often created using lower quality metals, without the performance and reliability that you expect – and this means a tendency to crack, buckle and break.
History of VW
Volkswagen was originally founded in 1937 in Germany in order to design and manufacture a 'car for the people'. Until this time car ownership was very low in Germany and was the preserve of the elite. The goal with the creation of Volkswagen was to produce an affordable car that could carry two adults and three children. Initial development was started on what later became the VW Beetle and prototypes were produced, however the start of the war meant that production in the Volkswagen factories shifted to focus on military vehicles, rather than civilian. Following the end of the war Volkswagen rebuilt itself and started producing what we now recognise as the Volkswagen Beetle (Type 1). This was a rear wheel drive car with a four-cylinder engine, much of which was made from light alloy and it featured 16" steel wheels (rather than VW alloys, which had yet to be developed.). Production steadily grew, and VW gradually developed and introduced more and more models. Growth has continued rapidly since then and VW has maintained its close ties with Porsche – whose company founder, Ferdinand Porsche was the original Volkswagen designer.
